This paper provides a review of the existing literature specific to the use of augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality (MR) technologies within K-12 educational environments. The review explores the peer-reviewed scholarly studies conducted between 2006 and May 2017, which involved the use of AR, VR or MR technologies in the instruction of students in elementary, middle or high school. This review contributes to the field by providing a common set of definitions for VR, AR and MR technologies, presents an overview of existing research, examines relevant considerations for educators, and identifies future research needs and directions.en
